The Road to FIONIA: The Official Courses Put to the Test
Community spirit, valuable insights and plenty of smiles marked the first group training day on the official FIONIA courses.
On Sunday, FIONIA Long Distance Triathlon powered by Sparekassen Danmark brought together registered athletes and members of the co-organising triathlon clubs in Nyborg, Ringe and Odense for a group training day on the official FIONIA courses.
The objective was simple: to experience the courses in a relaxed setting, test the logistics and gather valuable insights ahead of race day on 5 September 2027. At the same time, the day gave us the opportunity to capture the atmosphere, community spirit and beautiful surroundings that future FIONIA athletes can look forward to.
The official courses came to life
Throughout the day, the swim, bike and run courses were tested under realistic conditions.
From the swim in Nyborg and the bike ride across the Fyn countryside to the run course in Odense, the day provided valuable insights that will now feed into the continued work of fine-tuning the organisation of FIONIA Long Distance Triathlon powered by Sparekassen Danmark.
The training day also gave athletes the opportunity to get to know the courses, ask questions and share experiences with one another – exactly the kind of community that FIONIA aims to build on.
Thank you for being part of the day
A big thank you to everyone who took part for your enthusiasm, positive attitude and flexibility throughout the day.
Alongside the training, we also captured photo and video content to help tell the story of FIONIA and inspire even more triathletes to become part of the journey. We were therefore very grateful for your patience whenever the photographer asked for one more ride past the camera or an extra photo.
We look forward to sharing the results with you.
Follow The Road to FIONIA
The group training day was only the beginning.
In the lead-up to FIONIA Long Distance Triathlon 2027, we are not only following the development of the race – we are also following four triathletes who have set themselves the ambitious goal of completing their first full-distance triathlon.
As part of The Road to FIONIA, they will receive support and guidance throughout the coming year, all the way to the start line in Nyborg. Together with Triathleten on YouTube, we will follow their journey closely – from their first training sessions and moments of doubt to the small victories along the way that remind them why they started.
The four athletes will have access to a personalised training plan from TriDot, guidance from experienced coaches, open-water training with Rasmus Henning, running analysis at Kaiser Sport and advice on aerodynamics.
The goal is not only to help four triathletes reach the finish line. We also want to share experiences, inspiration and knowledge with everyone following their journey – whether you will be on the start line in 2027 or simply dream of taking on the challenge one day.
We look forward to taking the next step on the journey together.
