About FIONIA Long Distance Triathlon

FIONIA Long Distance Triathlon is a Danish long-distance triathlon event created with the ambition of delivering a well-organised and sustainable long-distance race in Denmark. With Fyn at the heart of the event, the focus is on quality, safety and a clear framework for both athletes and volunteers.

Ownership and organisation

FIONIA Long Distance Triathlon is owned by Triatlon Danmark but organised through an independent event company, Triatlon Danmark Event.

This structure provides a clear organisational framework for the race and enables professional and focused event management, while keeping FIONIA firmly rooted in Denmark’s national triathlon federation.

About Triatlon Danmark

Triatlon Danmark was founded in 1984 and is the national governing body for triathlon and related multisport disciplines in Denmark. The federation works to develop and strengthen triathlon at every level – from grassroots participation and local clubs to talent development and elite sport.

Every year, Triatlon Danmark is involved in organising triathlon events across the country. Among other responsibilities, the federation helps ensure that races are conducted in accordance with current competition rules, that appropriate safety measures are in place, and that trained referees and officials are present. This contributes to fair and professional race organisation for the benefit of athletes, organisers and volunteers alike.

Triatlon Danmark also has extensive experience in organising international championships in Denmark. Major championships that the federation has organised or co-organised include:

Through these events, Triatlon Danmark has built extensive experience in planning and delivering international events with high organisational and sporting standards.

Board of Directors

Triatlon Danmark Event is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of three representatives from the Board of Triatlon Danmark, bringing experience in both federation governance and event organisation.

The Board of Triatlon Danmark Event has overall responsibility for the strategic direction, organisation and development of the event. Rasmus Henning is the CEO of Triatlon Danmark Event.

Collaboration and race organisation

FIONIA Long Distance Triathlon is delivered in close collaboration with Triatlon Danmark, local triathlon clubs, volunteers, relevant authorities and event partners.

The race is conducted in accordance with current Danish competition rules, with a strong focus on providing a safe and consistent experience for all athletes.
