About Fionia Long Distance Triathlon

Fionia Long Distance Triathlon is a Danish long-distance event established with the aim of creating a well-organised and sustainable long-distance triathlon in Denmark. The event is held with Funen as its geographical focal point and with a strong emphasis on quality, safety, and clear frameworks for both athletes and volunteers.

Ownership and organisation

Fionia Long Distance Triathlon is owned by Triathlon Denmark but is organised as an independent event company, Triathlon Denmark Event. This structure ensures a clear organisational framework around the event and allows for professional and focused event delivery, while at the same time keeping the event firmly anchored within the Danish Triathlon Federation.

About Triathlon Denmark

Triathlon Denmark was founded in 1984 and is the national governing body for triathlon and related multisport disciplines in Denmark. The federation works to develop and strengthen the sport at all levels – from grassroots and club environments to talent development and elite performance.

Each year, Triathlon Denmark acts as co-organiser of triathlon events across the country. The federation contributes by ensuring that events are conducted in accordance with applicable rules, that safety standards are met, and that trained referees and officials are present. This supports fair and professional race organisation for the benefit of athletes, organisers and volunteers.

Triathlon Denmark also has extensive experience in hosting international championships in Denmark. Among the major events organised or co-organised by the federation are:

• 2016: ETU Triathlon Nordic Championship
• 2017: ETU Triathlon Nordic Championship and ETU Middle Distance European Championship
• 2018: ETU Triathlon Nordic Championship and ITU Multisport World Championships Festival (Fyn)
• 2019: ETU Powerman Middle Distance Duathlon European Championships

Through these events, Triathlon Denmark has built solid expertise in planning and delivering international competitions with high organisational and sporting standards.
