FIONIA Long Distance Triathlon postponed to 2027 – to deliver the best possible debut

Since announcing the FIONIA Long Distance Triathlon, our ambition has been clear: to create a Danish long-distance triathlon as a strong alternative to sold-out events across Europe. However, a great race also requires a strong start field.
We acknowledge that the timing of the launch has been challenging for many athletes, who had already planned their 2026 season, holidays, or needed a longer preparation period for a long-distance event. Therefore, Triatlon Danmark and the organising team have decided to postpone the first edition of the FIONIA Long Distance Triathlon to 5 September 2027.
Why the change?
A stronger start field
Unfortunately, the number of participants has not reached the level we had hoped for in order to deliver the event we aim to create – including a full transition area, a large number of athletes, a great atmosphere, and a competitive field.
Better preparation for athletes
We want all athletes to be well prepared, ready, and standing on the start line with the best possible conditions for a great experience.
What happens now?
All registered athletes have been contacted by email and can choose between a full refund or transferring their entry to 2027 with selected benefits.
We are committed to making the FIONIA Long Distance Triathlon one of the most attractive long-distance races in Europe, and we hope you will join us.
Registration for the FIONIA Long Distance Triathlon 2027 opens on 1 May 2026.
Thank you for your support – we look forward to building something truly special together.
Kind regards,
Rasmus Henning, Director of Triatlon Danmark
and the team behind FIONIA Long Distance Triathlon
